Once iTunes is all squared away, it’s time to turn your attention to your iOS device and follow these instructions:

Download the appropriate iOS firmware file for your device.

Connect your iOS device to your computer using an USB cable. Wait for iTunes to open and connect to your device.

Click on device button to the left of the iTunes Store button in the top right corner in iTunes.

Hold down on the option key (Mac) or the shift key (Windows) and click the “Check for Update” button in the Summary pane. Browse to the .ipsw file you downloaded and select it. Note: Alternatively, you can also try clicking on the “Check for Update” directly without using holding down on the Option key or the Shift key. If the iOS 7 update is available it will automatically download and update your device to iOS 7.

Do not disconnect your device until the update has finished.

If necessary, restore your device from the previous backup and sync with iTunes.

That’s it. You should have an iOS device running iOS 7. Let us know how it goes.

Update 1:

There seems to be intermittent issues downloading the firmware files using the direct download links above due to load on Apple’s servers. Please try after sometime.

There seems to be some confusion with the format of the links. So hope this version will help:

BlackBerry’s BBM chat coming to Android, iPhone this weekend

12:43 PM

Unknown

(Reuters) — BlackBerry Ltd said on Wednesday that its popular BlackBerry Messenger instant chat application will be available for rival devices using Google Inc’s Android software and for Apple’s iPhone this weekend.

The struggling Canadian smartphone maker had announced plans to open up the service, often referred to as BBM by both fans and the company, back in May.

Once a unique tool to send short messages without running up SMS charges, BBM now competes with mobile instant messaging products from Facebook, Apple and others, and less directly with the micro-blogging service Twitter.

Android users will be able to download the application on Saturday, while iPhone users can get it on Sunday.

UPD! Если у вас в iTunes нет пункта Программы и Править меню… то необходимо откатить версию iTunes.
Это делается обычным скачиванием и установкой нужной версии приложения. Подробнее способ описан в статье: Возвращаем Программы App Store в iTunes

Blackberry Messenger for Android to Start Rolling Out to the Play Store

12:17 PM

Unknown

Blackberry Messenger for Android might finally see life again. Seems that the messaging app might be rolling out to the Play Store sometime today. Back in September, a leaked apk hit the web, and there was quite a frenzy to get a hold of it. This caused Blackberry to postpone their release for Android and iOS, but it is looking like they are ready for the frenzy again.

If you are dying to try this messaging app, because for some reason you do not like Google Hangouts, then keep your eye on the Play Store. Let us know if you get it.

UPDATE: BBM is now live in the Play Store. The PLay Store link was not working for me on desktop, but worked on mobile.

About iOS 8 – iOS 8.4.1:

The eighth update “iOS 8” is built on the same design of iOS 7. The UI and design of iOS 8 are not changed much in it but it is bundled with many new features. Some of them are:

Photos and Camera Apps:

Both these devices are given enhancements in this release. The photos app is provided with more tools to edit the pictures. The camera app brings new time-lapse mode and shot timer for the front-facing camera.

Notifications Centre:

It is redesigned in this version. It contains two tabs now, instead of three tabs. The notifications can be sorted according to the time or app basis. Widgets can be added to the notification center. Users can directly reply to notifications from within the notification centre.

Messages App:

Messages app is also improved with new features. It now supports audio and video messages. A contact can be added or deleted from any conversation. Auto deletion of messages can also be set. If you don’t want to get notification from any specific contact, you can set “Do Not Disturb” to that contact.

Keyboard:

iOS 8 allows us to install third-party keyboards from App Store. It also supports QuickType which can be turned on / off from Settings.

Continuity:

Handoff and SMS Sync let you manage the phone calls andSMSs directly on your Mac machine without touching your phone. After pairing with Mac, which is very easy and instant, the phone will push the incoming calls and SMS to Mac as Notifications. The notifications received on the screen of Mac are actionable, i.e. you could answer the call directly from Mac and reply to SMs.

Besides these, there are also some other features which are worth mentioning like Family Sharing, HealthKit, HomeKit, iCloudDrive etc.

The sub-versions of iOS 8 include:

  1. iOS 8.0.1
  2. iOS 8.0.2
  3. iOS 8.1
  4. iOS 8.1.1
  5. iOS 8.1.2
  6. iOS 8.1.3
  7. iOS 8.2
  8. iOS 8.3
  9. iOS 8.4
  10. iOS 8.4.1

iOS 8 – iOS 8.4.1 support the following devices:

  • iPhone 4S, 5, 5C, 5S, 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
  • iPad 2, 3, 4, iPad Air, iPad Mini, iPad Mini 2
  • iPod Touch 5

Fortunately, Apple didn’t drop the support of any iDevice in this version. So, the users of above mentioned models can download iOS 9 and install it their devices.
